From my side, yes, I have lived my whole adult life outside England, BUT 1) always in countries whose languages I spoke and wrote fluently and 2) in work situations where my Englishness gave me an advantage over natives (first in a US bank in Germany, later as an independent translator in Brussels). The other vital thing has been to be absolutely honest with myself on the psychological reasons why I left England, which at one stage was pretty painful. A certainly my Christian faith and practice has provided valuable ballast.
